I’m very excited about the opportunity to join the Arthritis Queensland team as Volunteer Administrator of their online support forum for women with Inflammatory Arthritis.
Arthritis Queensland have provided support to hundreds of women with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis or Ankylosing Spondylitis through their online forum called “Swell Gals”
I’ve been a member since 2010 when I was first diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and “Swell Gals” was such a help to me in the early days. I have continued to post regularly over the past few years.
I’ve made some great friends along the way too, another benefit of this amazing forum. Now that I am no longer working full time and being medically retired, I am very excited to take on a new role and start a new chapter in my life as Volunteer Swell Gals Administrator.
The wonderful thing about this role is that I can do it all from the comfort of my own home and my health issues are actually an advantage for once rather than a disadvantage. Through my own experiences and battles with a chronic disease, I can now contribute to helping others through the maze of medical mayhem.
The forum is private so only those people with access granted by Arthritis Queensland will be able to view its content. Update: In March 2016, I sadly needed to resign as Volunteer Administrator of Swell Gals. Ongoing surgery and worsening disability were taking their toll. Here’s the post I wrote at the time of resigning : Now What?
