Twas the Night Before Biopsy

Twas the night before Bone Marrow biopsy and all through the hospital the patients were stirring demanding a nurse…

That’s about as poetic as I can get tonight. Tomorrow is a big day and the day after is even bigger. My stint in hospital 2 weeks ago resulted in an MRI on my right femur which revealed bone marrow issues. Those issues are indicating a blood cancer so I am back in hospital and now under the care of an Oncologist, Endocrinologist, Clinical Immunologist and Orthopaedic Surgeon. The Oncologist is doing a Bone Marrow biopsy tomorrow and then the next day the Orthopaedic Surgeon is replacing the rod in my broken non healing femur with a new thicker rod and he’ll be doing some bone grafting.

To say it will be a big week is probably an understatement!! Initial recovery from the major surgery is  going to be tough and long but I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again. The only difference is I may also end up with a cancer diagnosis but if I do, it will give us some answers  and no matter  how bad the prognosis, I am determined to fight this and lean upon God to walk me through the process with a smile on my face (on most days anyway).

So short and sweet tonight as I write, as I need to get some rest. As soon as I can I will post the results. One thing is for sure, the steps over the past few weeks that have led me here tonight have been full of examples of God’s hand guiding me and my medical team and although the future is a little scary, I feel confident that although the path ahead might be a little tricky, it may well become more clear and straightforward and that will be a wonderful answer to prayer 😊
