Not What I Want To Share …..A Letter to My Loyal Followers

Hi Everyone,

This is more a letter than a blog post, and I have been battling whether to share it or not.

However, sometimes life is just tougher than we ever expected, and when we keep our burdens and troubles to ourselves, we only increase our stress levels and worsen our circumstances.

I’m a giver, and I struggle to be the receiver, so our current circumstances require me to dig deep to find the courage to share our needs and new complicated life circumstances.

But I’ve decided to be brave and post the update letter below that is on our GoFundMe fundraising page. Here’s the link for the full fundraising page details:

Our GoFundMe Update Letter

It has been a tough few weeks since Peter was hospitalised for a suspected stroke and cognitive issues.

Because he was admitted via ER ,at our hospital where his Specialists are, we ended up with medical out of pocket costs of $1200.

On top of already trying to pay off the new air-conditioning unit (you’ll remember our existing one completely died on the Australia Day weekend and couldn’t be fixed) our small pool of money, due to generous gifts, to assist with living costs and “normal” medical costs, are now completely depleted.

Our lovely electrician has allowed us to pay the aircon off in $500 fortnightly instalments but as you can imagine on a pension that is a massive stretch and depletes us in so many areas financially.

We can get a Centrelink advance late April of $1600 which will help. They then deduct around $130 a fortnight from our pension to pay the advance back in 6 months. It works really well but you can only apply twice a year.

We owe $1500 on the air-conditioning. If we could get rid of this debt it would help us scrape through until we can get the Centrelink advance.

We would so appreciate our go fund page being shared.

The air-conditioning was essential as I need a consistent cool temperature to help manage my severe pain levels.

Peter’s tests in hospital have diagnosed severe short term memory loss/ early onset dementia.

A huge challenge for us given my disabilities but love conquers all and we will, we are, finding ways to navigate living with this new diagnosis.

We do need to keep stress levels low and financial worries are an extra worry we really need to eradicate. We don’t need loads of money, just enough to get by and have around $2000 banked for unexpected emergencies, or in our case expected emergencies.

Thanks for reading and for your care and support.

We so appreciate it

Blessings

Sam and Peter

Letter From Go Fund Me Page

I want to keep my blog authentic. I don’t want to sweep under the carpet the real chronic illness struggles. I know many of you are experiencing similar issues.

This blog post is simply telling it like it is. I don’t want any of my chronic illness friends to donate as you have your own financial needs impacted by your chronic disease.

Just sharing this post on your own socials is a huge help if you feel comfortable doing so.

Thanks so much for reading and letting me tell it like it is.

Thanks so much for listening.

Lots of love

Sam xx
